You know that you're obsessive compulsive when... (part 32)

... you save every single creditcard / debitcard receipt that any store ever gives you over the past 7 years. I just weighed them, it's 5 lbs of receipts, neatly stacked it's about 4 ft of folded receipts, and when they're freed, it's about 3 HEB baggies full. Tomorrow they're going into the secure shredder at work.

4 ft of receipts:
3 Cody volumes worth:
The first and last one in the stack:

Your first date with Chantal was a day before my and Moonie's first date. December 2003 must've been a good year. :P

Out of curiosity, why did you save them, and do you plan to keep saving them?

I guess I don't like to throw away credit card receipts because they contain personal information (although I think nowadays they only print the last 4 digits on the customer copy), and shredding them is more work than tossing them in a drawer.

I still keep all of my receipts in hanging file folders, grouped by year. Occasionally I do have the need to dig through and find an old receipt, usually because I'm trying to get a failed product replaced under its warranty.

Keeping the receipts also lets you add up the sales tax and use that instead of the standard deduction on your income tax. (And of course if you do that, those receipts become a part of your federal income tax filing and you need to keep them for 3 years in case you get audited.)

one, two, three, four.

I think your receipts take up a lot more physical volume because you have to fold them to fit into those shoeboxes.
